Introduction

If there’s one thing I love, it’s Asian food. I’ve made a few posts now that highlight the love I have for Indian food. That interest has also taken me in a variety of different directions. Almost all of which I can say honestly that I would love to learn a great deal more about.

I cannot, then, suggest that this dish fits into any one of those categories. It’s far from an honest interpretation of food it’s based on. Sweet and sour food makes me think first and foremost of Chinese takeaways, but I know those sweet and sour flavours make themselves known in Korean and Vietnamese foods as well, amongst others.

What this is, is a perfectly fun and enjoyable take on Asian-style sweet, sticky, spiciness and a wonderful alternative to a takeaway. It’s also really, really easy to put together and very flexible. If you need to tweak the spices, give it a try. If you need to change the sauce, just do it. As long as you’ve got that balance between sweet and sour, the recipe will work.
